COOS COUNTY ARES/RACES NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES
- GENERAL: In an emergency, members will be contacted via telephone or
radio. The frequencies to be utilized and the procedures for radio and
telephone contacts will be outlined below. These same procedures should be
followed during drills, communications exercises, and for routine
notification of ARES and/or RACES matters as may be desired.
-
INITIATION BY
SHERIFF'S OFFICE: To activate RACES or to convey information to all
ARES/RACES members through the notification system, a member of the
Sheriff’s Office will contact one of the following members. Dan Bissell
(347-4580, Dave Granicy (756-5534), George Eckholm (396-2438), Paul Andersen
(888-2050) or Loren Fleming (888-5432) will be called, in that order, until
one of these members is contacted. The member first contacted will
immediately initiate the notification procedure as outlined in paragraph III
below. No further contacts by the Sheriff’s Office are necessary to complete
the notification process.
- NOTIFICATION PROCEDURE: The ARES/RACES member contacted by the Sheriff’s
Office will notify by telephone or radio the other members listed in
paragraph II above and at least one member in each of the city areas as
listed on the Coos County ARES/RACES Membership Roster. The first member of
each city area contacted will expeditiously contact all members in their
city area. Assistance can be requested from other members within the city
area in making contacts. For more routine initiation of the notification
system within the ARES/RACES Group these same procedures will be followed.
- When there is any reason to believe that the notification system will be
initiated, such as an emergency, members should monitor the primary net
frequency of 146.61MHZ(-600 no tone). In the event that the 146.61 repeater
is not working, the 147.28 (+600 PL146. 2) should be monitored. If members
are out of range of the 147.28 repeater then 145.19MHZ(-600 PL146.2) should
be monitored.
