Field Day

June 23, 2001   Bandon, Oregon

The Coos County Radio Club staged an annual Field Day exercise at Bullard's Beach.  Amateur Radio Operators across the country use this day to test their readiness for emergencies.  Working without commercial power, the hams set up portable antennas and generators.  They then attempt to contact as many other Field Day Operations nationwide as they can.
Members of the local club kept their rigs on the air for twenty-four hours.  They were successful in contacting many stations in numerous states.
